Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast

This trip to British Columbia has been a genuine journey of discovery.

Earlier today Ruth and I returned from The Sunshine Coast. Those who travel from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale via BC Ferry have access to almost 100 miles of diverse experiences–Skookumchuck Rapids, the Patricia Theater, several unique communities, First Nation culture, one of the world’s greatest concentration of artists and artisans, the Laughing Oyster, etc.

At the end of the 100 miles is the town of Lund where paved highway ends for the rest of British Columbia’s entire, mainland west coast. It feels like the end of the world.

At Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island I learned during my 3rd visit why January just might be the best month to visit this famous Eden. It’s called Spring Prelude.
